Heirs of Greatness Day: Celebrating the Future of African Craftsmanship in Casablanca
On January 8 and 9, 2026, Casablanca will host the first edition of Heirs of Greatness Day, a landmark cultural event celebrating African excellence in design, textile, and craftsmanship. Organized by Orun, this immersive experience takes place alongside the Africa Cup of Nations, positioning creativity and heritage at the heart of a major pan-African moment.
A Pan-African Vision Rooted in Excellence
Heirs of Greatness Day is conceived as more than an exhibition. It is a manifesto for Africa’s cultural sovereignty and creative future. Through a curated selection of designers and artisans from Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal, the event highlights a new generation of talent shaping a contemporary African aesthetic. Brands such as Yoshita 1967, Johanna Bramble, Olooh Concept, Jiamini, and Romzy embody a dialogue between ancestral know-how and forward-looking design.
An Immersive Experience Between Tradition and Modernity
Designed as a journey, Heirs of Greatness Day invites visitors to explore co-creations exclusively developed for this first edition. Each piece reflects a shared vision where craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural responsibility intersect. The experience emphasizes the continuity of African heritage while embracing digital innovation as a lever for global influence.
A Symbolic Venue in the Heart of Casablanca
The event will be hosted at the Église du Sacré-Cœur de Casablanca, an architectural landmark built in 1930 by Paul Tournon, blending Gothic and Art Deco styles. This iconic space provides a powerful setting for a contemporary celebration of African creativity, reinforcing the dialogue between past and future.
Orun and the Sovereign Code
Orun is the creative and cultural subsidiary of Africa Currency Network, a pan-African holding committed to building sustainable economic and creative models for the continent. Guided by its methodology, The Sovereign Code, Orun operates around three core principles: Heritage, Structure, and Transmission. This framework underpins all initiatives, including Orun x Designers, a program dedicated to structuring collaboration between artisans and designers and fostering a durable African creative language.
A New Chapter for African Creative Industries
With Heirs of Greatness Day, Orun opens the first chapter of a long-term cultural journey. By bringing together craftsmanship, design, and innovation in a highly symbolic context, the event asserts Africa’s capacity to define its own narratives and standards of excellence. Casablanca becomes, for two days, a platform where heritage is not only preserved but actively projected into the future.
