DENZA Morocco Launch Brings Ultra Fast EV Charging

Casablanca just became a launchpad for something the automotive world has been racing toward for years. Auto Nejma, the exclusive importer of BYD in Morocco, has pulled back the curtain on DENZA, the group’s premium arm, and the DENZA Morocco launch is anything but modest. Four models, two dedicated showrooms in Casablanca and Rabat, and a charging technology that outpaces nearly everything else on the continent. With this single move, Morocco becomes the first African country, the first Arab nation, and the tenth in the world to welcome BYD’s ultra fast Flash Charging system.

DENZA, the Premium Face of BYD

“Technology Drives Elegance.” That is the philosophy behind DENZA, the first fully new energy premium brand in the world to cover every vehicle category, from grand touring to family monospace to rugged off road. The brand carries BYD’s most advanced innovations straight to market: the second generation Blade Battery, the intelligent e³ platform, ultra high voltage architecture, DiSus smart suspension, and a sound system built with Devialet. Wolfgang Egger, the designer behind some of the industry’s most recognisable silhouettes, leads the styling direction across the entire range.

A Distributor Already at Home in the Premium World

This is not unfamiliar territory for Auto Nejma. Founded in 1963 and listed on the Casablanca stock exchange since 1999, the group already represents Mercedes-Benz and Smart. Therefore, the DENZA Morocco launch builds on decades of experience rather than starting from zero. The brand rolls out with a fully dedicated network, from sales points to financing, plus lounge style after sales reception spaces designed around the DENZA identity.

The Z9GT: A Grand Tourer That Leads the Charge

The Z9GT opens the range, and it does so with presence. Available in fully electric or plug in hybrid form, this shooting brake inspired grand tourer draws its bodyline from the drape of silk, with proportions tuned to the golden ratio and a double active spoiler. It is, quite simply, the car designed to set the tone for everything that follows.

Three Motors, Four Steering Wheels

At the heart of the Z9GT sits the e³ platform, the first intelligent architecture in the world to combine an independently controlled three motor system with dual rear motors capable of steering independently. Each rear wheel is powered and turned on its own, which unlocks a few genuinely rare tricks. The car can perform a near perfect pivot turn, or shift diagonally in a crab like motion, a real advantage in Morocco’s tighter medina streets. The e³ Parking system slots the car into the narrowest spaces in roughly twenty seconds, while the e³ Safety suite includes tire blowout control up to 180 km/h, a benchmark few rivals can match.

Performance Built for the Fast Lane

The fully electric Z9GT delivers 600 km of WLTP range, 1,156 horsepower, and a 0 to 100 km/h sprint of just 2.7 seconds. The plug in hybrid version, meanwhile, offers 203 km of pure electric range and 805 km combined, reaching 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. Underneath, the intelligent DiSus-A air suspension adjusts damping and ride height in real time, while the CTB structure integrates the battery directly into the body for added passive safety.

Elegance Sphere: A Cabin Built Like a Lounge

DENZA gave the Z9GT’s interior a name of its own: Elegance Sphere. A 50 inch augmented reality head up display sits alongside a floating 17.3 inch central screen, heated and ventilated massage seats, and an onboard AI assistant. Every model in the range shares the brand’s sonic signature too, a Devialet audio system, with the Z9GT featuring twenty speakers and Dolby Atmos compatibility.

D9, B5 and B8: Family Comfort Meets Off Road Ambition

DENZA’s best seller, the D9, targets families and premium transport professionals alike. Its Super Hybrid DM technology runs on a petrol engine with a thermal efficiency of 40.12 percent, a world record for a plug in hybrid unit, delivering 210 km of electric range and 353 combined horsepower across seven seats in a 2+2+3 layout. Onboard, second row zero gravity seats sit alongside a heated and ventilated third row, an intelligent refrigerator, and Devialet sound.

For those who need more ground clearance, the B5 and B8 bring plug in hybrid power to the SUV segment. The B5 opens the lineup in Excellence and Signature trims, while the B8 sits higher up the range with a seven seat Executive configuration.

DENZA Z: A Preview of What Comes Next

Unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the DENZA Z is powered by three electric motors producing over 1,500 combined horsepower. It stands as the brand’s most radical statement yet, and it will reach the Moroccan market at a later stage.

Flash Charging: Morocco Joins an Elite Circle

The real headline of this launch might not be a car at all. The Flash Charger is the most powerful series produced EV charger in the world, delivering up to 1.5MW. Paired with the second generation Blade Battery and an ultra high voltage architecture, it rewrites what charging time actually means. A car can go from 10 to 70 percent in just five minutes, roughly a full tank of usable range. Nine minutes takes it from 10 to 97 percent. Even in extreme cold, down to minus 30 degrees Celsius, the system needs only three extra minutes thanks to intelligent battery thermal management. As a result, it directly addresses the biggest barrier to EV adoption: downtime. BYD plans more than 6,000 Flash Charging stations outside China by 2026, with over 3,000 in Europe alone, and Morocco is now part of that map.

Two Showrooms, One Vision

Auto Nejma has opened two DENZA showrooms, in Casablanca and Rabat, built to the brand’s latest international standards. It positions the Kingdom at the center of a technology race most of the continent has yet to enter.
