Raid Med by Saïdia Resorts 2025: A Celebration of Sport, Solidarity, and Sustainability

Nestled between sea and mountains, Morocco’s Oriental region came alive once again with the third edition of the Raid Med by Saïdia Resorts, held from April 29 to May 4, 2025. This multi-sport adventure race has firmly established itself as a landmark event in the country’s sporting calendar, attracting participants from diverse backgrounds to take on an exhilarating physical and human challenge.
A New Format for a Wider Reach
This year, the Raid introduced a key change in format: transitioning from teams of three to dynamic duos. This strategic shift broadened accessibility, encouraging more participation across all categories—male, female, and mixed teams. Athletes took off from the iconic Radisson Blu Resort, Saïdia Garden, setting the stage for a week of endurance and discovery.
Two distinct routes were offered. The beginner circuit focused on accessibility and exploration, celebrating resilience and courage by highlighting women who have triumphed over breast cancer. These participants were supported by the association Les Amis du Ruban Rose. Meanwhile, the expert route was designed for seasoned competitors seeking technical and physical challenges through a combination of trail running, mountain biking, canoeing, and orienteering.
Nature at the Heart of the Experience
Participants were treated to an immersive experience that showcased the breathtaking diversity of the Oriental region. From the golden beaches of Saïdia to the dramatic backcountry and the tranquil waters of the Marchica lagoon in Nador, the landscapes offered a rich tapestry of wild coastline, rugged terrain, and scenic water vistas—an ideal backdrop for an outdoor sporting adventure.
More Than a Race: A Platform for Impact
Beyond the competition, the Raid Med stayed true to its founding values of solidarity and environmental responsibility. In collaboration with local organizations Ain Atlas and Al Abtal Saïdia, the event featured a beach clean-up campaign, inviting athletes to directly contribute to environmental preservation.
The event also reaffirmed its commitment to breast cancer awareness through its partnership with Les Amis du Ruban Rose. A special awareness day was organized, focusing on self-examination techniques for early detection. This initiative reached over 40 women from the local area, including employees of the Saïdia tourist complex, reinforcing the event’s local impact in health education and prevention.
“We had an exceptional edition, with excellent conditions on the ground and a higher-than-expected number of teams completing the full course. Given the difficulty level, this is a huge source of pride. Raid Med has truly positioned itself as one of Morocco’s premier multi-sport competitions,” said Zineb Bennouna, founder of Raid Med.
