UM6P Ben Guerir Hosts Morocco’s Next Hospitality Powerhouse Event

Pack your sharpest blazer and your boldest ideas: something big is happening in Ben Guerir this June. The Future Leaders Challenge (FLC), a global initiative to spotlight the brightest young minds in hospitality and tourism, lands at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University on June 2 and 3. And yes, it’s more than just another student competition.

With over 150 students set to attend, alongside industry heavyweights, policy makers, and top academics, this two-day event is shaping up to be a serious brain trust for the future of Moroccan hospitality — just in time for the country’s major leap onto the world stage.

Why it matters (yes, even if you’re not in hospitality)

You’ve heard the news: Morocco is gearing up to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Before that, the nation is set to welcome the African Cup of Nations. Translation? Millions of visitors, global attention, and the perfect storm of opportunities — and pressure — for the country’s tourism and hospitality sectors.

The FLC aims to ensure Morocco is ready, not just with beautiful destinations, but with a new generation of talent trained to lead, innovate, and exceed international standards. And it’s doing so by flipping the traditional top-down leadership model. Here, students lead. Industry listens. Schools evolve.

Not your average conference

Forget dry PowerPoint marathons. The FLC is built around hands-on workshops, real-world challenges, and strategic problem-solving. Think Shark Tank meets Davos, but for future hotel managers, resort innovators, and tourism trailblazers. There are panels featuring regional leaders from Radisson, Hilton, Accor, and SMIT, and a curated student challenge that could launch careers on the spot.

Oh — and a special summit will gather the country’s top hospitality school directors to rethink how students are trained for the jobs of tomorrow. Spoiler: it’s probably not more theory.

From Morocco to the Middle East… and beyond

Winners from the Morocco edition will go on to represent the country at the Middle East and Africa finals in Dubai. But beyond the competition, it’s really about sparking a shift. The FLC is part of the Future Leaders Platform, a growing global movement that links education and industry to co-design the future of hospitality.

As FLC founder Hubert Ummels puts it, “In a globalized world, hospitality and tourism can drive economic growth, inclusion and innovation — if we work together.”

So… how can you join?

If you’re a student thinking, “This sounds like me”, you’re not too late. Registration for the 2026 edition is already open. If you’re in the industry, there’s room at the table too — as a mentor, partner, or judge.

And if you’re just curious? Follow along on LinkedIn via the MEA Future Leaders Challenge. This might just be the future of Moroccan tourism, and you’ll want a front-row seat.
