Marché Dar Essalam: Rabat Welcomes a New Iconic Destination

On June 21, 2025, coinciding with the summer solstice, Rabat will see the grand opening of its newest landmark: Marché Dar Essalam, a premium lifestyle hub set amidst the lush Orangeraie in the Souissi district.
Positioned as a true “one stop shop” for families, the Marché brings together 60 carefully selected boutiques and services, offering everything from fresh markets and gourmet experiences to fashion, beauty, wellness, homeware, and entertainment. A forthcoming western wing will soon add a state-of-the-art cinema and new culinary concepts, enriching this already diverse space.
Blending the spirit of Morocco’s traditional souks with the sophistication of contemporary design, Marché Dar Essalam is the first commercial center in Morocco to integrate a fresh market at its heart. The space honors local culinary and artisanal traditions while embracing global inspirations, creating an experience that is both rooted and cosmopolitan.

At the core of the Marché lies a vibrant marketplace where artisan vendors offer the best in fresh produce, seafood, meats, cheeses, olives, Moroccan pastries, spices, and more. Visitors can shop for daily essentials or enjoy a casual bite from on-site counters featuring a mix of Moroccan and international cuisines, from Matsuri’s Asian flavors to Moojood’s Moroccan dishes.
The curated retail offering also includes three exclusive fashion concepts: Sèves for contemporary women’s and men’s fashion, Madd for the teen market, and Lilmi for children. These multibrand spaces feature labels such as Vanessa Bruno, Eleven Paris, and Tartine et Chocolat, alongside newcomers in lingerie, jewelry, and wellness including Intimissimi, Tiara, and 48 Collagen Café.
Gourmets will be drawn to Posology, a new fine foods concept celebrating premium teas, coffees, and chocolates, where iconic names like La Maison du Chocolat meet emerging Moroccan brands like Melt. The Marché will also host the first Rabat location for renowned pâtissier Frédéric Cassel, who will unveil a contemporary bakery and tea salon, and acclaimed restaurateur Pepe Garriga, who will open Aguablava, a refined new dining concept.
Soon, entertainment lovers will also enjoy the launch of a premium Pathé cinema. This 4-screen complex will combine the latest in audiovisual technology with VIP lounges and curated hospitality offerings, delivering an elevated movie experience.
A reinvented Marjane Market, designed to maximize natural light and views of the surrounding gardens, anchors the grocery experience with a focus on quality, traceability, and taste. Complementing this are thoughtfully chosen everyday services, from dry cleaning and tailoring to banking, telecom, beauty salons, and opticians.
Well-being is also central to the Marché Dar Essalam experience, with an exclusive studio offering hot yoga, Reformer pilates, and innovative guided practices led by expert coaches — creating a holistic urban escape for body and mind.
A Sustainable and Inclusive Project
Spanning 10,000 sqm of retail space and 7,000 sqm of landscaped gardens, Marché Dar Essalam is an exemplary project of next-generation sustainable design. Inspired by gourmet market halls, the architecture features naturally lit spaces and a contemporary reinterpretation of the Moroccan market aesthetic.
Environmental innovation is integral to the project, which includes solar panels, extensive green mobility options, and a major replanting initiative that preserves the site’s botanical heritage — with 800 trees, 350 of which are on site. The market is the first commercial building in Africa to achieve both HQE and BREEAM certifications.
Aligned with Morocco’s broader sustainability and cultural ambitions, Marché Dar Essalam champions local artisans, producers, and merchants, and will host a dynamic calendar of cultural programming — from exhibitions and workshops to moussems and international events — making it a new beacon of community life in Rabat.
