Celebrating 60 years: A Four-Hands Dinner at Sofitel Marrakech
On Saturday, August 3rd, Sofitel Marrakech Palais Impérial & Spa hosted a remarkable culinary event with two remarkable chefs: Michelin-starred Arnaud Viel and Sofitel’s Executive Chef Ahmed Eddefaa. The result was a sensory gourmet experience highlighted over a four-handed dinner at the exquisite L’Orangerie restaurant, where Moroccan food elevated the French Zest.
A Perfect Harmony of Cultures
In an enchanting ambiance, the two chefs unleashed their creativity to highlight each local ingredient. Every dish was a veritable testament to culinary art, from the delicate cucumber in an excellent amuse-bouche to the slow-cooked tomato confit, the saffron-infused langoustine, and the lemon confit sea bass. This symphony of tastes was further enhanced by the wine pairings, which provided diners with an unmatched culinary experience.
A Collaboration of Exceptional Chefs
Sofitel Marrakech Palais Impérial & Spa entrusted its Executive Chef Ahmed Eddefaa to lead this gastronomic adventure. A culinary enthusiast from Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, Eddefaa honed his skills at Sunabel and Dar Diafa before joining Sofitel Marrakech in 2006 as the head of Moroccan cuisine. Eight years later, he became the head chef of the establishment, also working closely with the Institut Paul Bocuse.
His co-author in this culinary experience, Michelin-starred chef Arnaud Viel, hails from the southwest of France. Trained by renowned chefs, Viel eventually became the head chef of his own restaurant, La Renaissance, in Argentan. His cuisine, which beautifully balances tradition and innovation, showcases seasonal products with remarkable creativity. Under his direction, La Renaissance has become a culinary landmark in Orne.
A Memorable Anniversary
This evening also marked the 60th anniversary of the Sofitel brand. Sofitel Marrakech Palais Impérial & Spa embodies elegance and refinement, offering a royal experience where Moroccan hospitality blends seamlessly with French sophistication. The experience was made even more magical by the luxurious setting of the Sofitel Marrakech, with its lush gardens and breathtaking views of the Atlas Mountains.
An Experience to Relive
This exceptional gastronomic collaboration heralds future encounters between world-renowned chefs at Sofitel Marrakech. The alliance of French elegance and Moroccan cultural richness promises new unforgettable moments that we eagerly anticipate sharing.
