Marhaba 2025: A Record-Breaking Homecoming with Over 67,000 MREs Arriving Daily

Every summer, Morocco prepares to welcome back its global diaspora through the large-scale operation known as Marhaba. This year, Marhaba 2025 has already made headlines with unprecedented figures. Since July 14, more than 67,000 Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) have been arriving daily, with a peak of 68,976 arrivals recorded on July 14 alone. This sustained influx reflects not only the emotional pull of returning home but also the strategic efforts deployed to ensure a smooth and safe transit experience.

To handle this wave of returnees, 29 ships operated by 7 maritime companies are serving 12 routes between Morocco and Europe. This setup provides a total capacity of 7.3 million passengers and 2 million vehicles, marking a 3% increase compared to 2024. On the aviation front, the air travel offer has been significantly expanded to accommodate 500,000 passengers per week, with 2,135 weekly flights operated by 59 airlines across 141 destinations.

Beyond transport logistics, infrastructure investments have been pivotal. A total budget of 530 million dirhams has been allocated to upgrade the port facilities at Tanger Med, Nador, Al Hoceima, and Tanger Ville, reinforcing the operational capacity and traveler comfort.

To support the well-being of returning MREs, the Marhaba initiative also includes a comprehensive medical and administrative network. 1,200 healthcare professionals have been mobilized along 3,578 km of key roadways, alongside 26 reception centers equipped to provide assistance. These are further supported by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, which oversees coordination and care efforts throughout the operation.

Additionally, mobile consulates and administrative support units have been deployed at key ports of embarkation from June 10 to September 5, ensuring that returning citizens have access to essential services during their journey.

Marhaba 2025 is more than just a logistical success — it is a heartfelt national effort to reunite families, celebrate heritage, and strengthen the enduring bond between Morocco and its global citizens.
