Piaget Takes Its Sixtie Watch Into the Blue

A year after introducing Sixtie at Watches and Wonders 2025, Piaget expands the collection with two elegant blue editions. Inspired by the Maison’s creative archives, the new models revisit the glamour and freedom of the late 1960s.

With its distinctive trapezoid case, the Piaget Sixtie watch captures the expressive spirit of the “Swinging Sixties.” However, its refined proportions and contemporary detailing give the design a distinctly modern presence.

When Jewellery Learned to Tell Time

In 1969, Piaget unveiled its 21st Century collection in Basel. The collection blurred the boundaries between fine jewellery and traditional watchmaking.

Under designer Jean-Claude Gueit, watches became sculptural creations defined by colour, texture and unconventional shapes. Oval, round, cushion and trapezoid cases appeared alongside ornamental stone dials and intricately worked gold.

Moreover, Piaget presented these timepieces on sautoirs, cuffs and engraved bracelets. Time was no longer displayed through function alone. Instead, it became part of a fluid and expressive jewel.

The Origins of the Piaget Sixtie Watch

Introduced in 2025, Sixtie revived this bold chapter of Piaget’s heritage. Its name references both its 1960s inspiration and the sixty seconds that shape every minute.

The trapezoid silhouette gives the watch its unmistakable identity. Meanwhile, engraved gadroons frame the dial and create a subtle play of light across the pink gold case.

The design also offers a softer interpretation of another Piaget signature, the cushion-shaped Andy Warhol watch. Both models share architectural lines, yet Sixtie presents them through a more delicate perspective.

Piaget Sixtie Watch Enters the Blue

For its latest evolution, Piaget replaces the original precious metal bracelet with a deep blue alligator strap. The rich maritime shade brings greater contrast to the softly polished pink gold case.

Furthermore, a trapezoid-shaped pin buckle continues the visual language of the watch. Its engraved gadroons echo the details surrounding the bezel, creating a cohesive finish.

Two Distinctive Dials

The first edition features a silvered dial with a sunray satin-brushed finish. Golden Roman numerals illuminate its surface, offering a bright counterpoint to the dark blue strap.

The second version highlights Piaget’s expertise in ornamental stone dials. Crafted from blue quartz, its surface reveals natural marbling and darker veins. Therefore, every dial carries a unique pattern.

This rich blue face follows the vibrant turquoise model introduced in 2025. Yet its deeper palette lends the watch a quieter and more versatile character.

Ultimately, the two blue Sixtie editions remain faithful to Piaget’s longstanding vision of the jewellery watch. They combine precision with creativity, while allowing shape, material and colour to take centre stage.
