The New Kia Seltos Diesel Arrives in Morocco: A Compact SUV with Grander Ambitions

There is a quiet confidence to the way Kia has been reshaping its lineup, and the new Seltos Diesel, freshly launched in Morocco, carries that assurance into the compact SUV segment. Unveiled in Casablanca, the new generation marks a clear step forward in design, space, technology and driving comfort, with a launch price starting at 279,000 DHS.

A Design Borrowed from the Electric Era

The most immediate change is visual. The new Seltos adopts the styling philosophy of Kia’s electric models, trading the familiar for something more assertive and contemporary. The front end is defined by a wide integrated grille and the full LED “Star Map” lighting signature, a detail lifted directly from the brand’s latest EVs. Taut lines, geometric accents and new 17 and 18 inch alloy wheels complete a silhouette that feels more statuesque than before.

The proportions have grown with the ambition. At 4,460 mm long and 1,830 mm wide, the new Seltos positions itself as a compact SUV with a premium character, gaining presence on the road and space within. At the rear, full LED lights connected across the tailgate reinforce a modern, robust identity.

An Interior Built Around Technology and Light

Step inside and the transformation continues. The cabin has been entirely redesigned around a wide panoramic display housing two 10.25 inch screens, one for instrumentation and one for multimedia, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The centre console, inspired by Kia’s electric vehicles, favours intuitive use and a clean, uncluttered environment.

A wheelbase extended by 60 mm translates into more generous space for all passengers and a boot capacity of up to 1,436 litres with the rear seats folded. A panoramic sunroof, two tone seats and ambient lighting lend the cabin a sense of wellbeing that compact SUVs rarely manage.

A Diesel Engine Tailored to the Moroccan Road

Kia’s choice of a modern, efficient diesel engine is a deliberate nod to local driving habits. With a fiscal rating of 6 CV, a combined consumption of 5.8L/100 km and a range that can exceed 800 km, the new Seltos Diesel is built for families and long distance drivers alike, balancing performance, economy and controlled running costs.

Available with both manual and automatic gearboxes, the SUV also offers a selection of drive and terrain modes, adapting its behaviour to every road condition, from city traffic to long stretches of highway.

A Generously Equipped Range

The new Seltos is offered in Morocco in several trim levels: Motion+ BVM and BVA, Design and X-Line. From the entry Motion+ trim, the equipment list is notably complete, including six airbags, the 10.25 inch multimedia screen, a rear camera, full LED Star Map lights, cruise control with speed limiter, 17 inch aluminium wheels and advanced safety systems.

The Motion+ BVA adds an electric parking brake with Auto Hold along with the drive and terrain modes. The Design trim elevates the experience with hands free access and start, the panoramic sunroof, two tone semi leather seats, a wireless charger and roof bars. At the top of the range, the X-Line brings a sportier, more distinctive presentation inspired by the premium outdoor world.

A Competitive Statement in the Compact SUV Segment

With its statuesque design, generous equipment, expanded interior space and efficient diesel engine, the new Kia Seltos arrives as one of the most compelling offers in Morocco’s compact SUV segment. It is available now across the Kia Maroc network, starting at 279,000 DHS in the Motion+ BVM trim as a launch price.
