Drop Game: A Real-Time Thriller to Debut in Moroccan Cinemas This April

Following the success of Happy Death Day and Freaky, acclaimed director Christopher Landon returns with Drop Game, a gripping, high-stakes thriller that unfolds in real time. Produced by Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, and Platinum Dunes, the film will hit Moroccan theaters on April 23, 2025, distributed by Film Event Consulting.

A First Date Turns into a Deadly Game

What begins as a promising dinner date in an upscale Chicago restaurant quickly spirals into a nightmare. Violet, a young widowed mother played by Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), starts receiving disturbing anonymous messages on her phone. Under the watch of an invisible tormentor, Violet is forced to obey the increasingly sinister commands of a mysterious digital “troll” to protect her son and sister at home. The ultimate demand? Kill her date, Henry (Brandon Sklenar).

With its real-time narrative and single-location tension, Drop Game plunges viewers into an unrelenting spiral of paranoia and suspense, where every character could be a threat—or a victim.

A Bold Cast for a Relentless Thriller

Meghann Fahy delivers a riveting performance as Violet, balancing vulnerability with fierce determination. Opposite her, Brandon Sklenar portrays Henry, whose charm is shadowed by an unsettling mystery. Supporting them is a sharp ensemble cast including Violett Beane, Reed Diamond, Gabrielle Ryan, Jeffery Self, Ed Weeks, and Travis Nelson, all caught within the claustrophobic confines of a deadly evening.

An Electrifying Setting Crafted for Maximum Tension

The film’s main location—the Palate restaurant—was entirely custom-built for the production, becoming an essential part of the storytelling. With elegant yet oppressive design, the setting amplifies the characters’ fear and claustrophobia. Thanks to the precise cinematography of Marc Spicer and an intense original score by Bear McCreary, Drop Game maintains a razor-sharp tension from start to finish.
